Greek Goddess of love and beauty.

Her origin story has two versions. In Homer's, she is the daughter of Zeus and the Titaness, Diona. According to Hesiod, when Uranus' genitals fell into the sea off the coast off Cyprus, Aphrodite was born fully formed and nude, emerging from the water in a scalloped shell. She was the most beautiful being both mortals and divinity had ever seen.

Almost all the gods desired to be her husband, bar Zeus and Hades. To avoid carnage and war between the gods, Zeus quickly betrothed Aphrodite to the ugly Hephaestus. Due to the lack of attraction and love Aphrodite felt for her husband, she had many affairs with other men, inlcuding Ares and Adonis.

Aphrodite, being the goddess of lust and love, is known for her tampering in mortal relationships, namely the one which set off the most ruinious war ever- the relationship between Paris and Helen of Troy.
